Brislington and Totterdown

Our latest proposals focus on the short-term changes that could be put in place in the next two years. The longer-term proposals shown at our 2023 consultation will be consulted on separately in the future.

As well as proposing changes to the A4 itself, we're also looking at how people connect with it and travel in the local area. In Brislington, the proposals include improvements to nearby side roads which would make it safer for children, parents and carers along routes around 7 local schools and easier for pedestrians and cyclists to reach the A4.

Some of these plans, like adding new pedestrian crossings near schools, might make car journeys a bit slower and with fewer spaces to park.

All the routes shown in Bristol would be re-surfaced and any potholes filled in, making the roads smoother and safer for both drivers and cyclists. Wherever possible, bus stops would also be upgraded to include larger shelters and digital displays showing real time journey information. You can read more about our plans for bus stops here.
